Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

Lights, Camera, Action

Here we go...today is the first day of shooting for the next dvd. "Creativity on Demand." Got my hair the right color....don't count on this shirt being in the final version after the fifteen changes from the last shoot. I have on no make-up since I don't know what I will be wearing and I slept late so got to cover those bags under the eyes.
This dvd is the most important to me. I want to help convey visually all those exercises you read about but aren't sure how to accomplish. Another goal is to inspire the viewer to get rid of the inner critic, play, make lots of mistakes but most of all to trust their own voice.
Because of all this I guess I am more nervous over this shoot than any of the others which were basically teaching technique. It will all work out fine or not...you will be the first to know.
Have most of the large painting finished for Eric but there are a few areas that need more work so no reveal yet......and believe it or not I actually got some sewing done this work...surprise, surprise.
I have been reading with interest the discussions on creating a body of work. My two cents comes from sweet Ronnie. When I first started out on this journey, he told me to do one thing and do it well....don't try to do everything. Find something you love and become obssessed by it. I hate it when he is right....but it worked. Now that I have accomplised that it is time to take the next step which is what all this transition stuff is about but it will still be doing one thing that I love.
Nothing else matters but making meaning in my little studio....sometimes it is easier than other times but it is the core of my sanity....no laughing....or giggling...I can hear you out there about the sanity part. Posted by Picasa
