Creativity for Life Workshop

For those of you who read my blog, you will be laughing at this one....I am almost speechless. This weekend has possibly been one of the most valuable things I have ever done. I will be eternally grateful to John and Viv of Art of the Song for organizing this workshop......and to Eric Maisel for his deep understanding of the artist's life.

The creative energy in the room was palpable. There were writers, musicians, perforance artist, painters, glass artist and visual artist of all disciplines in attendance. Some of us with established careers and some seeking how to fit their need to create into existing day job careers. No matter where we were we all faced the same issues. Some of us had resolved issues that others were still addressing but had other issues just as relevant and in need of attention.

Eric got right to the point covering all these blocks or avoidances. Best of all he left us with accessible tools to handle whatever was keeping us from our creative life. I am so
excited to get home and start putting these practices into action. Just the realization that I have been my own worst enemy this past year was a revelation. Now I feel empowered to correct my internal dialogue and trust my instincts.

Whatever your discipline, get thy self to a creativity coach. You won't regret it. Eric also teaches coaching and during this process you can receive free coaching as a part of their training. In January I will be hosting a blog tour of his book Van Gogh Blues....stay tuned. It looks to be very exciting. Words/language, how you allow your internal dialogue to effect you
are something we all need to be mindful of and Eric has the tools to keep these in the active part of your practice, devotion, love of the work.

At the moment, I feel reborn, fearless and eager to get back to the work.....I know I will encounter obstacles along the way but now feel capable of overcoming whatever might come my way. Viv and John have plans to continue the workshops yearly; possibly increasing them to five days or longer. I will keep you updated on their plans. So I return home today full of ideas and how to implement them, in love with making my own meaning, and erasing negative internal dialogue. Best of all, I return with a deep respect for the creative process of all the artist that attended the workshop and all of you who are working your way through the joy of living a creative life.
