Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

Gabrielle, you would be amazed at how similar your piece looks to my piece that I'm working on for Quilt National.
Scary.
I want to see something in that lower left corner. It looks "broken" visually. As my eye wanders around the work, everytime I end up there, it bottoms out. There is nothing to physically redirect me back into the piece.
I like the previous view better with the half circle on the side. The movement makes me feel more focused and relaxed. Hard to explain.
I like this one....but it does need something on the lower left....
teri
Besides the idea of adding something to the lower left (an idea I like), I think that large arch shape that is now on top seems overpowering no matter which way the piece is hanging. To me it seems like that shape needs to be broken up somehow - either by overlapping another shape partially on top of it or by cutting a shape or two out of it.
Still think the large semi circle is overpowering! Like the idea of a piece taken out of it....worth seeing anyway. Might work better then on the side again. At the moment reminds me of the Monty Python foot coming down in the opening credits, but you're probably not old enough to remember that! Grin!
