Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

I love the shoes! I, too, am a shoe junky. My hubbie knows it and once when we were walking in Charleston, SC, we saw the coolest slides. They were a madras plaid fabric in all my summer colors (lime green, peach, periwinkle blue and purple). AND they were beaded. Steve said they would look great with what I was wearing, why don't I try them. I don't need much encouragment so in I went. They were made in Italy by Botteca Veneta and they were $350. Mind you, this was 9 or 10 years ago. I took a deep breath, whipped out my credit card and walked out in those shoes. They are looking a little thrashed, but I am still wearing them. I got way more than $350 worth of joy from these shoes!!
