Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

Talking to Myself

Okay, dear readers, I am beginning to feel as if I am blogging to the sound of my own voice. Not that it isn't a great way to journal....but I am feeling a little pang of loneliness. So, if you are out there.....leave a comment or two when you stop by.

We all love comments and as a part of the new handmaiden,I will reply to your comments in the comment section or directly in a blog post.

Now I think I will indulge in some crackers and cheese to go with my whine.

Now I'M sad. I have been writing comments for you and a few others (when you said you didn't put sugar on your oatmeal I said out loud "I'll bet she'd like grits!". BUT..and this has happened all to often,I'll write something in response to a post and then think "well who cares what I think anyway?" so here I am only mildly depressed.....

I only discovered you and your blog today, but will try to stay in touch. And I will be attending your Friday/Saturday class at Quilting in the Desert, so we will meet also.
I know what you mean about cherishing the comments, though. My blog is Conversations with Whomever, but it is nearly always just me, myself, and I.

Deb,
I luv garlic cheese grits...or grits in any form...just a lil'ole' girl from the south. Please don't ever think you comments aren't appreciated and valued. I always get a big smile when I see the pool duck on my comment list.

Hi AJ, We are going to have more fun in this class than the law will allow. It might be slow starting as you search for what holds meaning for you or even holds you interest. Once we get going, most students end up with several designs suitable for great quilts.
See you in a week.

Great that you have an exciting new fiber art idea. When I am stuck in a rut, unsure what I want to do, I tell myself I am taking a sabbatical from ....(fill in the blank). I legitimize putting that area aside and working on something else. When I am ready to return, it is all fresh again.

Hope you continue to find fun and fresh ideas
Pat

Yep, Deb pretty much captured how I feel. When I read about the egg pattern, I went "Wow! I thought I was the only one who did that!" Looking forward to Monday. Have a great weekend. Cheers.

Gabrielle!! Hi from Down Under... don't feel sad, we all need a few comments sometimes. Speaking of which, I'd still love to link up to your online mag and our interview if you remember to send me the link for my site :) Hope you're well, come over to MO land and see me sometime. x

You know I stop by whenever you blog a new post but I don't comment. I'll have to change that habit :)

Hi Pat, I fear my sabbatical became an excuse to not work. I admit my schedule was probably too intense last year. However, I have created a long list of ways to piddle away time. Cleaning the spice cabinet, the pantry, I'll work on that tomorrow becomes next week, then next month...you get the idea. What actually happened is the fact that I got out of the habit of exercising my creative muscles. Getting back into shape this year. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi Jeannie, Whew! and I thought I was the only one who obsessed over eggs in cartons.Let's chalk it up to our artistic nature instead of obsessive/compulsive...lol.

Sarah and Sharon, my dear friends from downunder...oh how I am going to miss visiting you this year. I have fallen in love with Melbourne. Spending time with both of you is icing on the cake. I always feel as if I am coming home when I return to your beautiful country.
Sarah, for some reason, I have notes that you were going to send me some FTP files to add to the interview. Is that correct? Would be great to add to the interview. Also the dvd zine is going to be a hard copy not an on line magazine. However, I will send you copies and a link for the sales site.

Hi Sue, I also occasionally visit a blog and leave no comment. This year I am trying to at least leave a word or two since I realize how important it is to get feedback.
In that vein, I love your blog...so full of fun and information. Pledging to leave a comment every time I visit you.

I read everything you write! In fact you are the first blog I turn to. I do leave comments but not always. Will try to do better!
