Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

It's a Secret

Spent a happy fourth.....ate those hot dogs and appliqued all day. Started looking at the quilt from a new perspective...ran to the studio...put it on the design wall...and shock...it looks better vertical than horizontal. There has been some more tweaking but no pics until the vertical view is finished.

Common to me...always going the wrong direction....swimming up stream or just too stupid to think to turn the darn thing another direction. Knowing that if it is really good design , that the orientation doesn't matter, doesn't help my ego....but by golly, it really looks different so vertical it will be. Stay tuned for the final version later this week.

Second best part of the day was an hour long phone conversation with son Thomas about the constitution. This is his semester on constutitonal law...how appropriate with the O'Connor resignation. Amazing that he seems to be getting to the age where I am not so illiterate...my how I have grown. Who knows by the time he graduates from law school, I might be an intelligent human being. That doesn't mean we will agree....he is a Scalia fan..but at least we can have a discussion.

Get to spend tomorrow with Chris' wife, the sweet Jillaine and the two beautiful sweeties, Jene' and Jayden. We are still working on cleaning out mom's house. Lots of great stuff but it is just stuff. Makes me want two tatami mats, two bowls and two sets of chop sticks.

Oh, looking forward to seeing the quilt with the changes!

The times I do non-objective things, it seldom even occurs to me to turn it and look at it from different angles. Duh.
