Productive Day and Personal Problem

Finished the first of the non-representation pieces last night....and this morning promptly cut it up into pieces. Some of them may not make the finished state....they may not all hang together at the same time. In case you didn't know this about me, I am famous for cutting up my applique quilts..especially if they aren't working as a whole. Just place on cutting board, apply ruler and rotary cutter and go for it. Hey, it can't hurt and it might help.

On the cleaning front, the studio is now ready for filming. It isn't perfect but good enough. Good enough for me to start a new piece before the weekend. Got the design and first fabric...what am I waiting for....tomorrow. Going to take the rest of the day to be a slob since I accomplised at least two goals today.

Okay, now to the personal problem stuff. This transition stuff is really trying my skills...so today I got out a leaf design I had done several months ago. Had so many problems with the other style, so go to what you know...easy right? Wrong, it looked like some thing someone else did. Couldn't even figure out what leaves went where.....what happened?

The only thing that comes to mind is that looking and working with the other style has given me different eyes. Now to apply that to leaf quilts...when the time is right. The leaf design put away and another non-representational on the light box. Does this happen to any of you? When you work in one style, you have a hard time going another direction? Or is this just a personal problem with my pea brain?

No time to examine this problem.....absolutely in working mode...so what me worry another day. It does, however, give me pause. Will I ever be able to go back? Or will it be going forward on both fronts? For the moment, be here now.

Again in the side bar, isn't it clever that Judith Miller is sitting in jail, the Time reporter testified to the grand jury and Karl Rove was in hot water....George promised us if anyone in his administration was the source of the story (revealing the identity of a CIA operative), they would be fired. Now suddenly he has decided that the person of revelation has to have committed a criminal act......oh, and by the way, let's nominate a supreme court justice to get this pesky story off the front page. This isn't just wag the dog....this is wag the dog while walking the dog to the vet to have his tail nipped off.

Thank heavens, there is art to make.....otherwise, a person might get suspicious. Of course, being a Texan, I have already seen this play before and know how it will end...but it is still humorous to see the whole of these United States as characters in the melodrama. When George was running for governor, we had a great bumper sticker, "Don't elect that son of a Bush." As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for" and we got it already and are still paying.
