Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

Another Mindless Blather from La Casa

It would be marvelous if I had something to say but things are so quiet at La Casa Swain that the cat is not even meowing. Did manage to get some time in the studio yesterday to paint(see results below) but now have to figure out where to go with them. Don't you just hate it when you have to think?
Charles and Christy made their last Tuesday trip for awhile yesterday. Thank goodness, we emptied some more stuff from my mother in law's house.....but I am still overwhelmed by everything that is left. Considering calling a moving company and just putting it all in storage for my kids to deal with when I cast off this mortal coil. Wouldn't that be just like me...heh heh.
The other area lacking in my genes is I cannot get into the Christmas spirit. Haven't even entered a shopping mall....shock...that would also mean no new shoes. Finally talked with son Chris so have a list started for his family...of course, that does require shopping.
Sidebar: Speaking of Chris, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. He is officially honorably discharged from the Army. He had enough leave time saved that his last day on post was 25 November, but will be paid until 1 January. Anxiety level drops to zero.
However, I am worried about this lack of Christmas cheer. This is always my favorite time of the year...love shopping for the family..cooking etc. We are having Christmas at Craig and Kelly's so I don't even have to clean but there is no way to articulate how I could care less about decorations, tra la la and especially shopping. Hopefully, the ghost of Christmas Present will descend upon me soon.
On the video blogging subject....don't bother. It is way too much trouble..has too many bugs and won't post directly to your blog...has to go through another server. There is a way to do this easily but computer genius son Craig will have to come to my rescue before I try that again. Wasted lots of hours yesterday trying to get the blasted thing to work....all to no avail. Will keep you posted on the possibilities and technical requirements.
Last but not least...brrr....it was 25F this morning in sunny warm Texas. Prediction for freezing rain and more cold. I am not leaving this house for any reason...not even a lack of diet Coke...now that is a serious statement. Off to the studio to see how much of a mess I can make today.

When Led Zep finally drops off the page I'm going to be SO disappointed! I only read you for the music you know! grin! I can't get the Christmas spirit either and haven't done anything! Perhaps we need to go to a jolly good party to get us in the mood!

I don't know anyone in the Christmas spirit this year. I am not Christian, so have felt like a "faker" even trying the last few years... it IS afterall a Christian holy day!! (in spite of what our friendly merchants want us to believe that it's all about the guilt and presents...). So I've given myself permission to skip whatever I wish.

I love your paintings and was surprised when the video came on of its own accord. I thought I had a virus taking over my laptop since I was on today's page and hadn't scrolled down to Robert Plant's appearance.
Anyhoo, I love your painted fabrics, very very arty and so like 'stand alone' art.

I am not in the Christmas mood either, as the studio is my center of joy these days.

Ibet that if you make something handmade for someone, it will start the flow.

I've been trying and trying to get your paintings to load and they finally did this morning! Very cool. I really like the flow of color in the mostly orange and green one.

And unlike Valeri, I'll be glad when the video is gone because when it was added was when I started having trouble loading your blog!

To correct a small discrepancy, these aren't painted fabric but acrylic on bristol board. No do you still love them. To turn off Led Zepplin, click on the speaker icon and it will mute Robert. Also never fear, as much as I post, it will soon be gone....but this aging hippy chick couldn't resist remembering how young we all were.
