What a wonderful hard working group of serious stitchers. We had a wide range of levels from not appliquing much to avid appliquers. However, as you can see below they all did beautiful work. My thanks for their hard work and great fun. We did single shapes, lettering, multi-layer reverse and two-color background reverse. A full day for anyone who knows what time hand applique takes. After a hard day's work, we had a hard day's night being feted at the Gala Awards ceremony....an incredible sit down, evening attire required. Plenty of food, wine, dancing and wonderful awards. Too tired to have a picture of the day....already in my pj's but I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to be here again.
All you teachers if Judy Newman of Expertise Events gives you a ring or email about coming to Melbourne to teach at the Australiasian Quilt Conference......say Yes and book the ticket immediately. You won't regret a minute of the 16 hour flight from LAX.
Tomorrow starts the design class. Can't wait to see what everyone brought to design with....as always more pictures tomorrow. Your roving reporter off to bed.
Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Love the reverse applique!
Finally had time to catch up -- what a great experience! Love reading about it and seeing all the pix.
