Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

The Collaged Peltex and Canvas

The good news is learned so much from this exercise. Now I will never WonderUnder Peltex but will probably paint more of it...love the effect. From now on I will WonderUnder paper and canvas. They adhere very well. Now the question is how to construct the darn thing since my sewing machine and I are not one. Second, do I want to spend the rest of the day in the studio with this same style process. Ah sweet mystery of life. Posted by Picasa

OOoo I like this!! It reminds of lots of presents sitting on a table.

I thought peltex was "ready to fuse".. but I have not had good luck fusing with/to it, either.

I'm better friends with my machine, so I would just be stitching the pieces together by machine...I can't imagine hand stitching this with anything less than an upholstery needle.

I like this so much, Gabrielle. Guess you can't hand quilt Peltex, whatever it is?

I love this one. I would try to be more specific about why but it's late and I'm too tired to think that hard. For whatever reason, it works for me.

I use Peltex and WU together for fabric postcards and have had good luck with fusing it. Hhhmmm....

(Debra, Peltex doesn't already have the fusible on it. I forget the name of the one that does. Gerrie, Peltex is like batting with a stiffy.)

I love this!
I can't imagine stitching this by hand, unless it would just be to tack it down. Break down, come on.... you can use that sewing machine, I know you can!(big smile) Why not blow everyone away by using machine stitching? Be a totally different you!
