Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

An American in Melbourne

The ever present trolleys...what great mass transit. BTW, they have the right of way so watch where you cross....squish! Geena made the trip with me. I am sure if they had only known I was coming they would have changed the billboard for my arrival.
Ahhhh, the Jarrah Room, of course, I had lunch there. Will try to go somewhere else tomorrow to keep from embarassing myself but I do so love their food.
Had to have a picture of me walking the streets of Melbourne.....that's not street walking, let's not get a rumor started. The weather today was marvelous. I didn't get back from my walk until 2 p.m. and it had to be in the 70's F. However, they are predicting very warm weather for Thursday. Naturally, that is the evening of the cocktail party. I am prepared with summer fancy dress but you suspected that already. You can tell from my hair there was even a nice breeze.
I think that Australian tourism bureau should hire me...like they need it. There are only 60 million people living in the entire country. Not many more than Texas and way bigger than Texas. Unfortunately, there is a lot of land where no one can reside in Australia but for me where they do is gorgeous. Flying into Sydney over the opera house is breath taking, and the flight from Sydney to Melbourne is beautiful. Enough already, gotta save something to say for the rest of the visit. Let's see if I can find another restaurant tomorrow. Haven't had lamb yet...I must be slipping. Trust me it is yum yum here. Posted by Picasa

Actually, I think you'll find there are only 21 million here in Aus. Maybe Texas has us beat?

Ooohhh I envy you being there. I would love to see Australia, but it will never happen unless I win the lottery. Keep the pictures coming.

*Cathy - NSW is a wee further than 1-2 hours from Melbourne - unless you meant flying - which of course you did didn't you :-]}.. It takes about an hour to Sydney from Melbourne by plane... It takes about 5 hours drive to the border of NSW from Melbourne then of corse Sydney town is further on again...
