Things are getting more and more eccentric at Casa de la Swain. Changing styles in my textile work, falling in love again with painting and photography...and then there is the ever illusive quest for continuing creativity through working with Eric Maisel. Still on the road teaching, posting now at the Ragged Cloth Cafe and taking the pledge to keep handmaiden up to date.

Time to Hit the Road

Didn't get much done on the new piece but posted what is happening so far. Doubt that much more will get done this week since big jet leaves Thursday for next teaching gig. However, finally got a handle on where to go with this thing. Tried several palettes which took up time but you gotta explore to get happy.

Spent Saturday with the twins and Thomas..see below. They, including Thomas, are too cute together. The time went by so fast as fast as they are growing. Medical science gets a big hooah from grandma. The twins were born at 25 weeks, three days apart....won't bother to go into all the stuff that happened but you can imagine.....and look at them now. Cyrus has two teeth coming in and Collin has everything working to crawl, just can't quite get it all working at the same time.

Adding an extra day at the gym this month in an attempt to lose those five lbs. Two road trips will shoot that in the foot but going to give it a try while home. On the rowing front, I have become a slug. Somehow when on a roll in the studio, can't find time to row. Wake up go to studio, stop to wave to Ronnie at dinner and back to studio until bedtime....where did the rowing go? Gotta get back in gear...knowing that this was what really got the weight off fast. Sadly, will miss the Blue Moon Challenge this year....sigh. Blue Moon Challenge is rowing 5,000 meters twice in one day...the day of the Blue Moon. Did it last year and had too much fun but doubt that I will be able to find an erg machine in Sacramento.

Another loss during studio obsession is reading and knitting....how do y'all do it? My fellow ring members are reading, knitting, cleaning, cooking and making quilts. What amazing company I find myself surrounded by.....that should read by which I am surrounded but it just didn't sound right so forgive the syntax. Surely, this lack of ability to multi-task is due to getting older....can't believe I said that. My excuse is that the business part of my quiltmaking is taking up that extra time formerly spent on other fun things. Good rationalization....but probably just bad time management.

I know! It's blogging....takes so much time as we all know. Now an real excuse.....that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Gabrielle,

You're going to be just up the road (1.5 hours) in Sacto?? Wave hello as you pass overhead.

LOVE the palette for the new piece. It's fabulous. And the work is coming together nicely.

How do we do as much other stuff as we do? We aren't working as hard in our studios.

And that sentence...I find myself surround by such amazing company. That's why the it didn't sound right... the "by" modified company not self.

I've decided we need to get an exercise machine. Our physician says a treadmill... we'll see.
